Description
Buy the Japanese 25th Anniversary Promo Pack from Obsidia TCG and own a sealed piece of the Pokémon Card Game’s 25th birthday. Known in Japan as the Promo Card Pack 25th Anniversary Edition, it was released on 22 October 2021 alongside the 25th Anniversary Collection expansion.
What’s in the Japanese 25th Anniversary Promo Pack
- 1 sealed Japanese promo pack
- 1 card inside, from a set of 25 numbered 001/025 to 025/025
- Replicas of famous cards from earlier series
How These Packs Were Given Out
These packs were never sold on their own in Japan. According to Bulbapedia’s promo pack page, participating stores handed out one pack for every four 25th Anniversary Collection packs bought. The 25 cards include replicas of Charizard, Venusaur, Blastoise, Imposter Professor Oak, Here Comes Team Rocket!, Umbreon ☆, Mew ex, Mewtwo-EX and Tapu Lele-GX. The pack is sealed, so the card inside is random.
The Link to Celebrations
Outside Asia, these 25 cards formed the basis of the Classic Collection subset in the English Celebrations expansion, so the Japanese pack pairs nicely with Celebrations cards in a binder. Japanese cards are not tournament-legal in English play, and this pack is mainly a collector’s piece: many fans keep it sealed as a reminder of the anniversary year, while others open it to see which classic replica they get. Either way, it is a simple way to own something from that celebration, and it makes a neat stocking filler for a long-time Pokémon fan.
