Description
Buy the Japanese Scarlet ex Booster Box from Obsidia TCG and open the set that started the Scarlet & Violet era. Scarlet ex (sv1S) was released in Japan on 20 January 2023, the same day as its partner set, Violet ex, with Koraidon ex as its headline Pokémon.
What’s in the Japanese Scarlet ex Booster Box
- 30 Scarlet ex booster packs
- 5 Japanese cards per pack
- A set list including Koraidon ex, Gardevoir ex, Gyarados ex and Great Tusk ex
- Your choice of Shrink or No Shrink packaging
The card list is on Serebii’s Scarlet ex page. Every pack is random, so no single card is guaranteed.
Why This Set Matters
Scarlet ex brought back Pokémon ex, which give up two Prize cards when knocked out, and introduced Terastal Pokémon based on the main games. It also included Trainers such as Nest Ball, Professor’s Research and Penny, giving players useful cards from the very start of the era.
Scarlet ex, Violet ex and the English Base Set
In English, Scarlet ex and Violet ex were combined with starter set cards to create the Scarlet & Violet base expansion. If you want the Koraidon half of that story in Japanese, this is the box to open; Violet ex covers Miraidon. Japanese cards can’t be used in English tournaments, so this box suits collectors.
Some Japanese stores, including the Pokémon Center, remove shrink wrap at purchase to prevent resale. Pick Shrink to keep the film or No Shrink if you plan to open it.
