What’s Inside a Japanese Booster Box?
Most main Japanese Pokémon expansions come as 30 packs of 5 cards, while high class sets usually have 10 packs of 10 cards. That makes Japanese boxes compact, punchy openings with plenty of chances at rare cards.
Japanese Boxes in This Range
- Sword & Shield: Shiny Star V, Towering Perfection, Silver Lance, Jet Black Spirit, VMAX Climax, Star Birth, Battle Region, Time Gazer, Space Juggler, Dark Phantasma, Pokémon GO, Incandescent Arcana, Paradigm Trigger and VSTAR Universe.
- Scarlet & Violet: from Scarlet ex and Violet ex through 151, Shiny Treasure ex, Terastal Festival, Glory of Team Rocket, Black Bolt and White Flare.
- The newest releases: Mega Brave, Mega Symphonia, Inferno X, Mega Dream ex, Nihil Zero, Ninja Spinner, Abyss Eye and Storm Emeralda, plus the 30th Celebration booster box.
Special boxes, decks and collector sets are in Japanese Pokémon cards, and the regional boxes have their own special location boxes page.
Shrink Wrap and Condition
Japanese booster boxes leave the factory sealed in clear shrink wrap. Where a product name says “Shrink”, the box still has its original wrap, which matters to collectors who keep boxes sealed for display. Store sealed boxes flat, dry and out of direct sunlight.
Japanese Booster Box FAQs
What’s the difference between a main set and a high class set?
A main set is a standard expansion, usually 30 packs of 5 cards. A high class set usually has 10 packs of 10 cards and is built around rare cards from recent sets.
Should I buy a Japanese or Korean box?
Japanese boxes arrive first and are the original print. Korean booster boxes follow the same sets and are a popular choice for bigger openings.
