What’s in the Sealed Ancient Mew Promo
- 1 English Ancient Mew promo card
- Sealed in its original plastic wrapper, which was issued together with a Pokémon League teaser card
The Story Behind Ancient Mew
Ancient Mew was handed out at participating cinemas in the United States and other countries during the film’s first week; after that, cinemas moved on to Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres promos. The card’s text is written in a cipher of Germanic-style runes rather than plain English, and the artwork includes Mayan-style glyphs, which is a big part of its charm. It isn’t a tournament card: it’s one of only two cards ever banned from both the Standard and Unlimited formats. Bulbapedia’s Ancient Mew page covers the card’s history and print differences in detail.
Why Buy It Sealed
A sealed copy keeps the full original presentation together: the card, the Pokémon League teaser card and the wrapper, exactly as they were handed over at the cinema. It suits Mew collectors, vintage Pokémon fans and anyone who remembers the films, and it makes a memorable gift for a long-time fan. Keep it flat and out of direct light to protect the wrapper, and avoid pressing on the card through the plastic. A rigid card holder or a box frame displays it well without opening it.
